Why the Goodwill is My Favorite Place to Shop

Support your community by donating to or shopping at the Goodwill. When you shop there you are not only saving a lot of money for yourself, you are helping to increase jobs in the community.
A couple years ago I started shopping at the Goodwill stores in Michigan. I had just gotten a divorce, was working part time, and taking care of my daughter who was an infant at the time. It was a great place for me to find clothes for both my daughter and I as well as toys, office supplies, books, appliances, and just about anything else I could think of. It felt good to be able to get things that my daughter needed that I wouldn't have been able to afford in a regular retail store.

Now I am remarried and have a second daughter and I still shop at Goodwill. We are a single income family because I am enrolled in college. My husband appreciates that I save him money by shopping there; in fact, I check the Goodwill first before I go to any other store when I need something.

Most of the Goodwill stores that I go to have a deal with Target so they have a lot of brand new items at below clearance prices. I love shopping for clothes there and have left feeling like I just got away with something because I paid such low prices for things that I really wanted. My daughter turned three at the end of August and I went to the Goodwill to see if I could find anything for the gift bags she'd give to her friends at her party. I was ecstatic when I found a bin of things for ten cents each. I got packs of Hello Kitty pencils, Hello Kitty note pads, cute little wooden ring toss games, and packs of rhinestone stickers for less than a dollar total! It was a big hit at her party and not to our budget.

I recommend the Goodwill to all of my family and friends and anyone who compliments the things I've purchased from there. If you are cost conscious, like most people are these days, than it is well worth the trip just to see what you may find. When you go, make sure to find out what the "half off color of the week" is. It's another great way to find awesome items for next to nothing.

Happy Shopping!
